I love the rain.
I fell out of love with it from time to time when we lived in coastal Alaska. Sometimes it was tough when on day 46 you woke up again to clouds and pouring rain. The sunny days there were worth every drop though, truly. You pacific northwest folks know this. But here? It's just right. Often enough to keep everything beautiful and green and not so often that I don't love each little storm that rolls through.
If there is ever a time that I feel completely vulnerable and connected to the earth.... it is when the sky suddenly darkens and the thunder starts to rumble. When rain suddenly spills from the sky in heavy buckets. I can't explain it really.... but I just feel alive and connected to everything. Maybe it's the wanna-be-hippie in me or something... but it's deep rooted.
Can't you just feel the fresh start when the sun comes out after the rain? When every drop of water is transformed into bits of glittering light. The bit of hope in a soft rainbow. Oh I love it.... I really do.
So do I. Lovely photos.

Nice pics. beautiful coloring. I can hardly wait for the rain to start here. We are on day 20 of triple digits & will probably be that way through the rest of the month. At least it's not humid. The humidity level has been ranging 0 to 5 %.
Can hardly wait for Monsoon (usually starts around the 1st of July). It makes the heat worth the wait. It is my favorite time of year in the south west.

Yup, that pretty much says it. The weather people keep promising us a good summer storm, but nothing yet this week.

I so love thunderstorms! I have the greatest love and appreciation for them growing up in the west my whole life. We once went 72 days without clouds! So when that first storm puff ball shows up on morning in late June it gets me all excited!
Lovely post!

Did I see a grape leaf? Do you have wild grapes? I remember sitting on the stone wall that had wild grape vines hanging over and running along it - the deep purple grapes were heaven sent on a hot summer day. We'd gather up a bunch and eat until we were dyed purple.
I'll be in RI next weekend for a surprise 50th birthday party for a "little cousin" and while there, will turn toward the north and wave - watch for it (LOL - silly old ladies)...

Beautiful photo's,
I completely feel the same way when a storm rolls through.. The first crack of thunder and I become electrified. A crazy manic excitement takes over me and I start to quiver in a slightly panicked state. Kiera Jo, knows a storm is coming long before the first black clouds arrive. She begins shaking and panting in a quite annoying manner. I am sure if I were a dog my reactions would look the same. I run around the house shutting windows and unplugging electronics. A ritual instilled in me as a child, watching my grandma and mom sprint around their homes just before a storm. Only to sit on the porch and watch until the thunder and lightning became to much to bare.

So hot! Goodness. The weather has been lovely here. Good summer heat without the heavy humidity of the south. So beautiful! Can't wait to see some monsoon photos from you :)

There is nothing like watching it all roll in ........

I can't imagine 72 clear days! We've always lived on the coast...... so we always have clouds!

*wave*
I hope it is a grape vine! That's what we think it is..... I see some tiny grape looking things..... but it seems they should be bigger if it were going to produce anything. It's a huge old vine(s) so maybe if we cut it back we'll actually get grapes next year. Folks all around have them in their yards on arbors.... so they most love the soil here!

Unplugging everything! That made me giggle.... Sid hides before every storm. Maggie never seems to notice. We loved watching it from the sunporch at the old house..... and the sunroom in the new house. So amazing :)
