Let's be honest.
Unpacking sucks stinks.
Add the regular tasks of full time mama, homemaker, homeschooler..... along with the added task of solo parenting make it even harder. For all you mamas (parents in general really) that do this solo full time, you have my utmost admiration.
I hoped to finish a room a week while Joe was in Louisiana (go ahead, laugh.) However, I am not. And honestly, the little guy and I both ended up with colds. Again. Which is surely my body's way of letting me know I was over doing it. So I'm taking it much more slowly.... if I get a box or two a week unpacked from here on out, I'm okay with that. Painting the entire house can wait. Scuff marks add character. Dreams and plans are good.... but it all takes time.
This all came to me as I was unpacking our treasures and setting them up in the sunroom. Box of tissues and tea at my side. Sneezing. Sometimes being forced to slow down is good.....

Do you see all that light? And those green leaves? I really love it.
Unpacking treasured bits is the nicest sort of unpacking. I lined them up in the windows and we used two glass bowls left at the house to display the shells and beach glass. I have more beach glass from last summer. Somewhere..... As it came together I commented to my big girl that it looked like someone had actually lived here awhile now.... she laughed and said well you have lived awhile.
I'll admit, I first set up this room completely toy free. But I quickly decided that toy clutter was in order. This means it looks like the above photo quite a lot too. Which is also good.
Today I plan to convince the youngest to drink copious amounts of tea while I rearrange boxes in the apartment space so I can get the sewing machines out of their boxes. Yes, I think that sort of unpacking is long overdue....
absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Nice Anderson windows. I can visualize you sitting there in the winter enjoying the warm sunshine & knitting. I see you have your dads prop propped up in the corner. Glad to know you have it. Get well soon .

I LOVE your sunroom! I would live only in that room if I could. And all your little trinkets lined on the window sills are so pretty. It's perfect to have the toys in their as well. It looks like such a peaceful, happy room.
Such a rainy week we're having, but we oh so need it. Was going to do a photo session this afternoon but looks like it will be postponed till Friday, when we supposedly will have drier weather.
Hope you and your little one feel better soon!

Its beautiful Steph, so nice! Love it. Can't wait to come again for a visit. I too spent the last week sick, although I'm not sure if it was allergies or a cold, or double whammy. I hope your guys feel better soon.

I think you are doing great. Maybe a room a week is indeed a bit too much, but hey, we all live with optimism in our heads and hearts, right?
The sunroom looks great! May you enjoy it for many years to come!

Oh the places that prop has been! We've had it since our first duty house when mom + dad sold the house on the lake. Joe is insistent on removing the wreath and placing the prop above the french doors. He really loves it and we never found the space for it in our last house so he's excited to put it up. I think putting artwork up is his favorite part ;)

Thank you Darlene! I am well and I do think the little guy is on the mend. He's had such a rough season this year with colds! Poor thing. But I hope this is the last one!!

Thanks Stacy :)

Thank you :) It's truly my favorite room in the house.....

I know right? It's teaching me a lot too. It's hard to get good photos in the morning, even though that is such good lighting. Sun shining in windows makes for tricky exposure...... but the skylights let in the sun when it's higher in the sky and it's just dreamy!

Thank you :) We are so grateful to have it....

I imagine it will be the most loved room.....

Us too. A little head cold..... yuck. But we're all feeling better, so I am grateful for it not being allergies! I thought of little T when I put the toys in there. A lovely sunny spot to play where we can keep her mind off the stair ;)

Totally! It's really awesome. I forgot how awesome the light is on the second floor of a home.... fantastic!

It's so dreamy.... I still pinch myself every couple of days to make sure this is all really real :)

I actually feel so much better now that I am slowing down. The basic living needs are all unpacked and the rest will happen slowly over the summer. Time to enjoy what is around us in this lovely area!
