Today I bring a sponsor spotlight from Curvy Boards. You can see their beautiful inventive design here. I found their lovely business last year searching for open ended gifts for my youngest two children. Not only have the boards we purchased as Christmas gifts become favorite toys for our whole family (grown-ups too!), but I've also gotten to know Michaela of Curvy Boards through my blog. They're kind-hearted people for sure, and I'm so glad to share them with you here today. In their words:
"We would like to share a vision of hope & learning. May this simple tool be the key to unlocking the treasure of imagination & creativity in each young soul that touches it."
Stephinie : The Curvy Board is such a beautiful one of a kind toy, what inspired you to create it?
Curvy Boards : Our 1st Experience was in our playgroup class. The children were excited exploring the new toys in the classroom but one toy stood out. It drew the children in like a magnet and carried a sense of curiosity. It was a simple curved wooden board. It held the sense of possibility that the child could clearly see.
The teacher at the time asked if I could help her make some new boards. The current ones were old, rough, and beat up. The next thing I knew the other families in the class heard that I was making the Curvy Board/Rocker Board and wanted one for their home. Soon after that my wife brought home a large amount of wood & now the magic of Waldorf has kept us very busy.
Stephinie : Can you share some of your favorite ways to use a curvy board with us?
Curvy Boards : One board can be used as a balance board, see-saw, balance beam, bridge, slide or rocking cradle; a pair of rocking boards doubles the fun for two children! Put four together and they form a circle in which children build homes or cozy nests in which to rest.
As soon as I think I know what the board is for, child after child shows me what it is for. It is for the imagination of the beholder. Sure the Curvy Board has its practical and technical uses and term’s, but WOW!! Just sit back and watch your child have his or her own experience.
Stephinie : You are small business owners and a family of seven, what helps you keep the rhythm in your days?
Curvy Boards : WOW!! When you ask it like that, the question seems overwhelming. We take things as they come; we do our best to stay on task running a small business. The best part of the day is when the children need our love & attention we have the ability to enjoy the moment. By stopping, digging a hole, sanding a piece of wood, or even a serious sword fight or just a quiet moment to read our favorite book of Tiptoes Lightly.
