The night before last found me alone preparing dinner. Each of the kids off in their rooms busy with something. Joe napping on the couch after an especially long day at work. A young person flitted through the kitchen every now and then, but mostly it was just me.
It was so different than the usual hustle and noise of dinner making. Such a treat. Truly.
I had a clear quiet mind to think as I prepped. I noticed the evening light creeping into my kitchen. I poured myself a glass of wine and turned on some soft music.
Simple. Blissful. Quiet.
Wishing you all a very lovely weekend.
I'll be back on Sunday to share a sponsor spotlight post. Do pop in to take a peek.

Gorgeous photos! Isn't it nice when you can really focus on quietly cooking? And, what's your recipe for vegan ranch??

It's out of the "Eat This" e-book by Renee Tougas. I added two TBSP nutritional yeast to the recipe and subbed the dried parsley for 1/2 dill and 1/2 italian seasoning. (because I didn't have parsley) We love it! And best of all, the kids do too!

Sounds lovely! Your dinner looks familiar. We've been having lots of pesto & zucchini as well.

Lovely! Esp. the glass of wine (I miss that Friday night indulgence with our usual homemade pizza!)...haha. And the quiet. I just put our pizzas in the oven and marvelled at the energy of the kids who had a dance party while I prepared the food. Your meal looks beautiful! Have a lovely weekend.

It's such a treat, isn't it? I think holding a wee babe is even better though.... you can always have wine. But you can't always nuzzle a newborn. xo~

These are my favorite kinds of nights. I'm lucky to have them quite often... my hubby likes to take the kids to the park in the evenings after school and I get a bit of quiet in the kitchen... it fuels me for the homework, bath, and bedtime routines and my own homework after that. Gorgeous pictures and gorgeous food!

I agree that those moments of quiet and alone a precious. It's amazing how 15 minutes of quiet can recharge me! Would you like to share the recipe for the dressing?
