Well, it's official.
That tropical storm out in the gulf just turned into a hurricane.

We're not anticipating an evacuation here, but we're packed just the same. As we boarded up the windows we said a silent prayer to those big beautiful oak trees in the yard that we love so much. They've weathered many storms before and we think they'll stand tall and strong, but a hurricane? Goodness.
We've been watching the path change and send Isaac right in our direction. When anxiety runs high I find that I need to stay busy. So the laundry is done, bed sheets cleaned, bathrooms scrubbed. The house smells like fresh granola, and chocolate chip cookies. Yes, cookies. While that may seem a bit absurd it sure brought a smile to all our faces. (it also makes the very dark kitchen a bit more tolerable)

So for now, we're as ready as we can be. It's time to take a deep breath and relax.
I'll see you soon....

Sending lots of thoughts and love to you! A slumber party sounds awesome. We waited through two tornadoes last year so I know that waiting...lots and lots of love indeed!
(I nervously made cookies on 9-11 while bracing for what was next) Food is therapy!

I've been thinking of you all day.. Watching the reports and satellites... Hopefully the flooding won't be to bad. I pray you are all safe and sound.. Is Joe out in this or on base waiting for instructions. I slept through the last big storm we had with a bad hangover. Not something I recommend with children, But it saved me the anxiety and worry of our giant trees toppling on the house. Keep us updated!!Love you!! ~tammy

It's our first hurricane too! I grew up with blizzards but nothing like this. I'm sure all will be well :)

The little kids are fast asleep. They think the slumber party rocks :) Joe & I are enjoying a beer and listening to the wind.

Haha! That's not a bad idea :) The kids noted tonight the air mattresses would float if we flooded. I didn't find it as funny as they did :) Joe is home. On standby but home unless he gets called in. Will keep you updated. Thank you for the thoughts. Much, much love to you all.

I hope it blows out before it gets to you (and doesn't cause any major damage on its way).

The vw is my husband's "baby" :) And we are all safe & sound with nothing more than a whole lot of branches to clean up. Feeling very grateful~

Me too. Especially at 3 am when we were moving furniture to clean up water seeping in the front door by headlamp light. It was really something to experience! I'm so grateful for nothing more than leaves & branches to clean up.
