Well, it's official.
That tropical storm out in the gulf just turned into a hurricane.

We're not anticipating an evacuation here, but we're packed just the same. As we boarded up the windows we said a silent prayer to those big beautiful oak trees in the yard that we love so much. They've weathered many storms before and we think they'll stand tall and strong, but a hurricane? Goodness.
We've been watching the path change and send Isaac right in our direction. When anxiety runs high I find that I need to stay busy. So the laundry is done, bed sheets cleaned, bathrooms scrubbed. The house smells like fresh granola, and chocolate chip cookies. Yes, cookies. While that may seem a bit absurd it sure brought a smile to all our faces. (it also makes the very dark kitchen a bit more tolerable)

So for now, we're as ready as we can be. It's time to take a deep breath and relax.
I'll see you soon....

Love you guys! Thanks for the pictures. I noticed the pool isn't under the rain gutter. It really would have been a great way to get it filled for free. :D

Thinking of you and all those in Isaac's path. Hoping he passes by as a whisper.

It would really probably just blow away! I feel better now that the van is in the garage. Joe's bus is gonna have to weather the storm! We'll have to get a sticker that says "I made it through Isaac" for her bumper :)

We are very, very well prepared. Food, water, generator. And kayaks if we have to paddle out :) I'm kidding about that last part. Much love to you too. Thank you for the thoughts & prayers.

I've been thinking of my Louisiana friends! This time last year Irene was heading straight for us, but we came out okay on the other side. I hope the same is true for you--will be looking to see that you and Michelle are safe & sound.

We did the same. We have all our supplies. I spent yesterday cleaning and baking. We have two loaves of bread, blueberry muffins and 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies. It helped yesterday and I'm sure will come in handy if we should lose power today, tonight or tomorrow. Here's hoping it's a lot of hype and not a lot of anything else!!

Thank you :) We've got air mattresses blown up for a big slumber party in our living room with the kids tonight!

Thank you Heather. Yesterday I remembered an old post of yours that involved a tree/limb falling. I pulled out all the air mattresses and we're having a giant slumber party in the den. It's at the center of the house & far away from any windows or trees! On a good note, the kids are far less worried and looking forward to popcorn and a move later tonight :)

We are definitely hoping for the best and keeping our spirits up. We've done what we can and the rest we just have to let go and let be.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only anxious baker out there :) Wishing you a safe couple of days too.

Keeping you guys in my thoughts. Sending you wishes of safety, warmth, and of course, love. I think fresh baked cookies are the best remedy for the anxiety of an impending storm. xoxo

I feel like that's the best thing you could have done, make some cookies. Worrying while you wait won't stop the weather from coming. I hope the wind calms done onces it hits land.

Thoughts and prayers are with you and yours during this time. We narrowly missed it here but I understand the waiting and wondering since we have been through it before.
