This is the list.
A page and a half of jobs open for next spring. Joe brought it home to me yesterday afternoon with all but a dozen scratched out.
In true Stephinie style I've spent a good chunk of time with that list, some coffee, and the computer. Researching things like house prices and food cooperatives and yarn shops. You know, important stuff.
These pages hold our fate. Our next home. Our dreams.
We've done this before. In fact this will be the sixth move in 15 years. Each of them to a completely different geographic location. But this one is is a bit different. This one we hope will be our last.
I almost didn't tell you about it here. I'm a bit superstitious about it. Okay, maybe a lot superstitious.
But then, I remembered there is strength in numbers. In thoughts and prayers and good vibes.
And you know, if you have any of those you could spare.... we would certainly appreciate them right about now. We could use them in the coming months while we not so patiently wait to find out where our next home will be.
In the meantime I'm going to smile at this little corner of my windowsill and remember that somehow, we'll end up just where we need to be. Because we always do. (and maybe dream just a little bit about four seasons)
xo

I've been trying to figure out for ages what prompts your moves. What does your husband do?
Whatever it is, I hope your next locale matches up with all your dreams!

I am a bit illusive I suppose. He works for the Coast Guard. We move every 2 - 4 years depending on jobs and promotions. We've been grateful to see the country and live on the coast.... but after 15 years of this lifestyle, we're hoping to settle down and plant some roots someplace. I think that's why this feels like such a big move. It has the potential to be the last!

Stephanie, sending wishes full of dreams come true for you and your family. I am amazed at your ability to make your home over and over again but I wish deep roots for you on your next location.

lots of positive energy to you. I'm such a home body, I've lived in the same small rural county my entire life. I think moving around and seeing new parts of the country sounds exciting.....on paper :) i hope you guys find the perfect place to settle down.

Oh, gosh, yes, I understand. We recently moved to a whole new state (wish it was the coast!), and I haven't even managed to get many pictures on the walls because I'm not sure how long we'll be here. There is the potential to move again in the next few years, and I'm afraid that hasn't done a lot for my decorating mojo.
Well, don't put too much pressure on yourselves. Wherever you go, there you are, right?
Good luck!

Good thoughts coming from over here too! Seems to me whereever you all end up will be home and beautiful too but I know that wont make it any easier...xx

Plant some roots in Buffalo, NY. Be my neighbor! :-)
No matter where you move, may you always be wrapped in the warmth of home.
Wishing you much peace and love as you come to a decision and begin to lay down roots.

You are starting a new chapter in your book of life. It is scary, exciting and full of challenges. Your are in my prayers casue I think right now I am getting ready to start chaper 208. :O) and I was ready to slow up after chapter 99. Where ever you go you will find amazing people and places to see. I have moved over 30 times in my life and they have all been exciting. Other than an old folks home I hope my next one is the final one to our bloved place in Wyoming. Lots of love and prayers headed your way sweetie, for you and your family. Love ya

Oh how very, very exciting! A page and a half of options. I do hope they are on "the left coast" as I like to call it. ;-) And of course, near to the wild woods of your lovely Alaska. Wishing you well as you make a final move. We're looking forward to our own one of these days soon.

Thank you so much Lynette! I so appreciate your words of kindness. I too am hoping for roots this time!

Oh I long to be a homebody! That is the truth about me. While I do love visiting my mama up north... I long to really know a place of my own. To stay put. Thank you so much for the sweet words~~

Ahh! I am guilt of the same here. By the time we were done renovating, little family bits made it onto the walls. The artwork, yes. But not family photos. I miss this so much. It's hard to put things up when you know you'll be patching holes & painting walls before too long. And you are so right with that last bit. Wherever we go, there we will be. Thank you for the sweet words!
Posted by: Stephinie | August 07, 2012 at 11:30 PM
Oh goodness, thank you for the kind words. I do so appreciate every bit of them today!
Posted by: Stephinie | August 07, 2012 at 11:31 PM
Yes on being neighbors! Wouldn't that be fun! Especially with our large broods :) Mostly, thank you for the sweet words. My heart needed those today, I am totally grateful!

Chapter 208? Wow! I wonder what chapter I'm on now? You are so right on finding goodness in all places. If you open your heart, all will be well. I've certainly learned that through this journey. I'm hoping geographically this is the last move for a long time. I'm ready to put in some roots and feel less like a tumbleweed. xoxo love you so much!!

Woods and seasons and my beloved snow! I'm hoping. Thank you for the good wishes today :)
